Ho ho ho! We are less than two weeks away from Christmas Day! Woohoo!
Have you done your holiday shopping yet? If not, then here’s a rundown of gift ideas for the artists and creatives in your lives.
For the Coloring Book Addict
We all know that this year, coloring books became popular. It’s one of those things that has always been there for kids, but this year adult coloring books have sprung up everywhere like wild mushroom and everyone’s wanting to have one. There are a lot of kinds to choose from, varying in themes and illustrations. Some of the books I found online were from South Korea, Japan or China, I’d like to suggest to support locally made ones! As such, check out Color Me Doodle coloring books by Mark Dean Lim. You can buy his coloring books online from Craft Carrot here. They even have gift sets that come with coloring pens! Good Value!
For the Watercolorist
Easily one of the easiest to use and most accessible painting medium, learning watercolor has made a boom this year too. Its versatility gives it plus points, for it can be used for brush lettering, if you’re into that as well. For your artist friend to keep on making cool and awesome artworks, why not gift him/her with more watercolor papers to work on. I’m sure they’d appreciate them. Good paint or brush won’t work well if the paper itself is not of good quality. It basically dictates the quality of your output. As such, it’s very important to choose good quality paper. While you’re at it, why not make an eco-friendly choice too, by choosing these 100% recycled acid-free papers from Khadi. You can get them from Art Whale.
For the Calligrapher
Finally for your calligrapher friends, already an enthusiast or just starting out the hobby, give them a customized oblique nib holder. Not only is it personalized (which is in itself totally cool!), but also it’s proudly made in the Philippines! The Curious Artisan nib holders are made of high quality wood and you can’t put a price on the high craftsmanship that goes into each one of them. You can get them here. Won’t it be touching if you have them engraved with your special nickname for your friend/loved one? Sweet! *kilig*
There you have it, few of the many gift ideas for your artsy fartsy friend. These are just the 3 things I thought of on top of my head. I’m sure based on your friend’s preference and personality they’d be a lot more in the market you can buy. Specially now, the art scene in the Philippines is booming with small art stores popping up, you’ll never have too little of a choice when it comes to gifts. As such, here’s a list of the online shops we know:
If online shopping is not your thing, then you can visit Hey Kessy’s physical store located at 71-B Esteban Abada St., Loyola Heights, Quezon City. Also, don’t forget to check out the Common Room! It’s located in the same area at 325 Katipunan Ave, Loyola Heights, Quezon City. We’ve already featured their store in this blog post, go see and spazz on all the good stuff they carry in their shop.
Happy Shopping! 🙂
